The Kumbharia Jain Temples, situated near Ambaji in Banaskantha district, Gujarat, are a remarkable group of five medieval Jain temples renowned for their exceptional sculptural ornamentation. Built between 1062 and 1134 CE during the Solanki Rajput period, the complex represents the flourishing Jain tradition of northern Gujarat. The temples are dedicated to different Jain Tirthankaras, with the temple of Neminath being particularly prominent. The present complex is regarded as the surviving remnant of a much larger Jain centre that once contained numerous temples.
The temples stand about 1.5 km from Ambaji and are now recognised as an important heritage centre of Gujarat. Their walls and interiors preserve an extraordinary range of finely carved marble ornamentation, making Kumbharia an important destination for the study of medieval Jain art and architecture.
